Sports Hypnosis

Human brain

Elsewhere on this site, I discussed two powerful tools of peak performance training as well as how to use a greater capacity of your cognitive skills. I also informed you that the brain tells the body what to do and, like a robot, the body obeys. An interesting question is what tells the brain what to do? For our purposes, we will say your mind or your spirit or you consciousness conveys the instructions to the brain which, in turn, tells the body what to do. Sports hypnosis is another tool in the peak performance advanced tool kit.

Most likely you are new to the world of sports hypnosis and the amazing benefits you can achieve with it. You may never have experienced hypnosis much less sports specific hypnotic training, You may even feel a little weird being on this site but your desire to be a better runner is stronger than your self-consciousness about hypnosis.

Most likely your view of hypnosis is shaped by the movies, television, or stage hypnosis. Most likely, and with some mild amusement, you may wonder if a hypnotist can really make a person quack like a duck or bark like a dog. The answer is yes, but only if the person wants to quack like a duck or bark like a dog. This leads to the second worry about being hypnotized; more specifically, that you will lose control and say something embarrassing. In a hypnotic trance, the athlete hears everything and is in control of what is said and done. A hypnotist can never do anything against the will of the client.

What is Hypnosis?   Hypnosis is a natural, inner-directed state of heightened awareness of the subconscious mind. Put another way, hypnosis is the heightened awareness of the most powerful force in your life, Your Subconscious Mind.

In the hypnotic state, you can access and utilize your inner most resources not ordinarily available in the regular waking state. Hypnosis is easy to use and, because it comes from within you, you cannot fail. But like everything, there is a learning curve and practice makes perfect. Everyone has the potential to benefit from hypnosis. And for many people, hypnosis is the key that may open every door.

Many people wonder if is hypnosis safe?      The answer is a resounding yes. Hypnosis in the hands of skilled practitioner is a valuable, effective and safe tool for helping people make changes in their life. Hypnosis was first endorsed by the American Medical Association as a valid therapeutic tool in 1958. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, a hypnotist “induces a hypnotic state in a client to increase motivation or alter behavior.” In skilled hands, hypnosis is one of the most effective methods of making significant change and transformation.

How Effective is Hypnosis?  The Journal of Holistic Health reports the following survey of recovery rates in a variety of psychotherapies:

  • Psychoanalysis: 38% after 200 sessions
  • Behavior Therapy: 72% after 22 sessions
  • Hypnotherapy: 93% after only 6 sessions

The American Medical Association sanctioned hypnosis as an effective treatment toll in 1995. The British Medical Association approved of hypnosis in 1958.

On this site, I am providing peak performance training and sports hypnosis services not hypnotherapy or psychotherapy.
